(B&D) New Life Rockeries’s company mission is to aid our Bothell area homeowners in turning their property into a fabulous sight that will be envied by their neighbors. We will transform your old landscape by adding natural rock and plant designs known as rockeries. All of this will bring a unique beauty to your Bothell home.

That is getting covered by a fence that will sit on-top of the lovely wall New Life built.

Absolutely fantastic. We had the New Life team replace our failing retaining wall and make some steps from our front to back yard and an area for a fire pit. They stabilized our wall despite torrential rain while they were working. Their work was surgically precise and our neighbors were also really happy. They replaced an ugly, rotten wall with a beautiful terraced one in terrible weather and stayed on budget doing so. They were so easy to work with and we are so happy with the result. Thank you!!

Rockeries Materials

Working with a huge selection of supplies is B&D specialty. This provides B&D with a unique knowledge of how to select the perfect material when making your home’s design. Below is just an example of some of the common materials we work with.

Stone

When it comes to stone and rock selections, we generally suggest sandstone, granite, basalt, or limestone. We take into consideration the size, texture, color, and shape of the rocks of you chose when we pick the material that we will use to build your Bothell rockery. Making the right selection of stone for your design starts with the style of rockery you desire. Factors like environment will weigh in on the rocks we select if better stone is available.

Plants

Adding plants to a rockery can add a lot to the final look of your construction. The tasteful use of the proper plants in your rock features can accentuate your project giving it warm and a welcome feeling. If your design is in a location with little light, impatiens or hostas will likely thrive there. We encourage choosing some common plants and placing them with your rock design.
When choosing ground cover plants, wooly, yarrow, rock cress, and perennials are excellent selections. This will enhance the beauty and blend the new addition into your existing landscape, providing a more natural appearance.

Retaining Wall Types

B&D Rockeries mainly utilizes three types of rock in our projects.

One Man, Half Man Rock
These projects can often be assembled by hand and are good for small wall builds. One must understand that one man and half man stones are not rocks a man can lift, these are rocks that can be moved with the use of a crowbar. When working half man projects, we use a larger crew so we can complete as much of the job in a single day.

Two and Three Man Rock
These stones can only be placed with the use of a machine. Due to this, our teams will consist of one operator as well as one man on the ground and another driving a supply truck. This is the most common type of rockery construction our crews do. We use a custom mini machine that has been specially modified to ensure the construction of these walls both quick and economical. Our teams can construct 400-600 square foot of wall on an average day.

Boulders
Due to boulders smooth surfaces and round edges, we rarely used them in the assembly of rock walls. Sometimes we will insert boulders within rock walls to add an aesthetic enhancement to the project, but they are generally not as practical as rocks when building retaining walls.

Water Features

Water features are an excellent choice when you wish to elevate the beauty of your rockery project. Options like falls, ponds, pools, and fountains are all great choices that add beauty to your property and can also help direct water flow through your Bothell property.
